Senate Bill (SB) 172 (Liu), signed by Governor Brown on October 7, 2015, suspended the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE). The law also requires districts to grant a diploma of graduation to any student who completed grade twelve from 2004 to 2015 school years, and has met all applicable graduation requirements other than passing the CAHSEE high school exit examination. This law took effect on January 1, 2016; with this in mind, Santa Cruz City Schools is now permitted to issue diplomas to eligible students.

If you, your son or daughter met all SCCS high school graduation requirements except passing the CAHSEE, and would like to receive a high school diploma, please contact the office of the school attended in 12th grade. If you have any further questions, please call the Curriculum and Assessment Office at 429-3410 ext 244
