Registering your child in Elem/Middle/High School

To be eligible for Transitional kinder enrollment, your child must be turning five years old from September 2nd through December 2nd.

To be eligible for kindergarten enrollment your child must be five years old on or before September 1 of the year in which the student enters kindergarten. 

Step 1. Determine your neighborhood school. If you do not know which school is your school of residence, click here to view the alphabetical street listing of attendance zones.

Step 2. Register on line, click here for the instructions. The following documents are required for registration, you need to submit these documents in person at your  school:

  • Copy of immunization records. 
  • Copy of birth certificate or passport
  • Proof of address ( PG&E  or water bill)

Step 3. If your family's home language is other than English, the Community Coordinator at your school can assist you.

Step 4. Please refer to the District Calendar after July 1st for next year's school start dates.

Attending a school other than your neighborhood school

We offer the opportunity for students to attend a school outside of their neighborhood's attendance boundary. If you live within the boundaries of Santa Cruz City Schools and wish to attend a school other than your neighborhood school, you may apply for Intradistrict Transfer. If you live outside the boundaries of the Santa Cruz City Schools District and wish to attend one of our schools, you may request an Interdistrict Transfer at the school district where you reside.

For Open Enrollment in the 2019-2020 school year, the priority filing period for Middle and High Schools is January 20 through February 15, 2019.  Please download the application, fill it out, and return it to the district office of the Santa Cruz City Schools, 133 Mission St., Santa Cruz, CA 95060, or by Fax: 429-3450 by 5:00 pm on February 15th (secondary).

In the Elementary District we are accepting applications from February 25th to March 15th Please download the application, fill it out, and return it to your school of residence.

Intradistrict Transfer

Students living within the Santa Cruz City Schools District who wish to apply for a transfer to another school, other than their resident school, within the Santa Cruz City School District. Intradistrict Transfers will be granted as long as space exists within the school requested for a new student, please use the link below to complete the application.​


 

Interdistrict Transfer

Students living within the Santa Cruz City Schools District who wish to attend a school outside the district must complete a Santa Cruz City Schools District Interdistrict Transfer, please use the link below to complete the application.

For students living outside the Santa Cruz City Schools District who wishes to attend a school within our district must initiate an Interdistrict Transfer request at the school district where they reside.
